The first Shiraz International Surgical Oncology Congress (SISOC) will take place on 28-30 November 2018 in Shiraz,Iran.

The congress will be focusing on the role of surgery in the treatment of tumors in a multidisciplinary manner and using a multidimensional approach.

Cancer is among the most important health issues worldwide. It is estimated that by 2020 more than 100 000 new incidence of breast cancers will occur in Iran. Despite advances and significant investments in non-surgical treatments of cancer,surgery still plays the key role in treatment of the disease. Moreover,surgery also plays an important role in prevention,diagnosis,reconstruction and rehabilitation of cancer patients.

Special attention and consideration given to surgical oncology as a subspecialty of general surgery from decades ago,especially the past two decades in some countries,has resulted outcome improvement in many patients with different types of cancers.

The upmost effort has been put in a three day course of the congress to provide a scientific platform for the surgical oncology and oncology community with specialized lectures,establishing effective panels with active participation of attendees and withholding workshops focusing on standard treatment methods,especially surgical techniques and novel surgical interventions in the treatment of different cancers such as breast cancer,gastrointestinal cancers,melanomas,soft tissue sarcomas and thyroid cancers. The program of the congress includes oral presentation of research articles and posters and the nursing care of cancer patients. Fundamental issues in surgical oncology will be discussed by specialists attending the congress from different regions of the world.
